You must be “Born Again”

Probably the most well known and quoted verse in the Bible is John 3:16 “ For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”. This verse actually comes out of a conversation Jesus is having with a man named Nicodemus. Jesus tells Nicodemus that if he wants to see (experience, embrace, live in) the Kingdom of God; he must be born again (saved). The moment you are saved (believe in Jesus), the Bible says you are born again spiritually. Spiritually, we become a brand new person. Jesus comes and lives in us, and we have a brand new life in the Kingdom of God. In fact Colossians 1:13 tells us that he has rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of the Son. Domain means authority, rule, and dominion. So apart from Jesus, sin/darkness and all it’s manifestations (sickness, fear, worry, depression, brokenness, lack, etc) have authority or rule over your life. But when you say yes to Jesus, you’re transferred into the Kingdom (rule and domain) of Jesus. You get the full kingdom (salvation – forgiveness of sins, healing, eternal and abundant life). Just like when you were physically born again into this world, you received from the first Adam (sin and it’s consequences); when you’re born again through Jesus, you receive all that is His. You get Him in His fullness (John 1:16), and the fullness of His Kingdom.

What must I do to be saved?

So how do you receive this new life with the King in His Kingdom? As John 3:16 says, you “believe”. In fact, in Acts 16 a man asks Paul and Silas “what must I do to be saved”. Their response in Acts 16:31 “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” Ephesians 2:8 says; “For by grace you have been saved through faith”. God’s part is the grace, yours is faith. He has already done His part. He has already took your place on the cross and died for your sins. He has already defeated sin and death when He rose from the dead on your behalf. This means everything that needed to happen for you to have eternal life already has. Everything that needed to happen for you to be born again has already taken place. Jesus already paid for your sins; you simply need to receive this work by faith. Believe! This new life in Jesus and His Kingdom has already been purchased for you. In fact, Hebrews 12:2 says “for the joy set before Him endured the cross”. Jesus’ joy is you embracing and walking in the life he purchased for you on the cross. You have full access to it now. Receive it by faith today.

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

“Jesus, thank you for taking my place on the cross. Thank you for loving me so much that you died for my sins and by your love and grace, you offer me new life in you. I believe you rose from the dead, and because of this I can be raised to new life. I receive this new life now. I confess with my mouth right now what I am believing in my heart; you are my Lord and Savior. I repent of my sins and I give you my life now. Thank you for saving me. Thank you that I have eternal life starting now with you Jesus in me and me in you. Thank you that I am no longer under the domain of darkness, but am in your Kingdom. Thank you for raising me to new life in your Kingdom. I commit the rest of my life to abiding in you and releasing your kingdom on Earth as it is in Heaven. Hallelujah thank you Jesus.”
