The Bible teaches us that we have three distinct parts: Spirit, Soul, and Body. When we say yes to Jesus, it's our spirit that is born again. Completely new, righteous, perfect, total and complete. Literally we have the spirit of Jesus. Every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms is in our spirit. Our soul is key to seeing this manifest in our bodies and the physical realm.
