Hey COM family, we have been in contact with other local churches, and city and local school officials trying to figure out the most beneficial way we can serve our community.
Below are some of the ways we are helping our area, and other parts of Florida that we're greatly impacted by this storm.
1 We are partnering with many churches around our city to meet specific needs of those in our community. So many are still without power, and could be for days or weeks to come. This is why our distribution centers are so important. You can drop the following items off to Bayside Community Church (either their East Bradenton or East Sarasota Campus) Tuesday 9/12-Monday 9/18 from 2-7pm.
2 We will be partnering with a few other churches to send teams to Naples and Fort Myers in the coming days to help with clean up efforts there. A major need is anyone who has chainsaws to go and help with the cleanup. Even if you don't have a chainsaw, there are other opportunities to get involved with.
3 We have reached out to our local school officials to help in any way we can to get the school campuses ready for students to return on Monday. We are waiting to hear back on specific needs and details. For those that are interested in helping in this area, we will contact you with the details as soon as we hear back.
4 If you have left over bottled water, instead of taking it back, or just letting it sit on your shelf, why not donate it to those who need it. Brave Church in Miami has said the community they're in is in desperate need of bottled water. We will be sending any water donations directly to them.
5 You can give financially to help with relief efforts. 100% of what is given to this fund will go directly to relief efforts. You can go to http://www.churchofmotion.com/give and then click the online giving link. Once you login and click "Give Now", select the Hurricane Irma Relief drop down to give to this fund.
If you can help in any of these areas, please email Christina at firstname.lastname@example.org and let her know what specific area you could help with and any tools/supplies you'd be able to bring.
This is such an opportunity to "be the church" in our community. We believe we're better together, and together we can make a big difference that will impact eternity. Thanks for your generosity during this time of great need.
